Andrew hails from
Yorkshire and began playing the Euphonium when he was 8 years old. His
first taste of success came at the age of fourteen when he played Solo
Euphonium for the Allerton Bywater Colliery Band which, under the
baton of Alan Morrison, won the 1988 4th section National Finals. He
also passed his grade 8 with distinction at the age of fifteen and did
A level music at school.
After gaining a degree
in Finance and Accounting from the University of Salford Andrew joined
the Wallace Arnold Rothwell band on Solo Baritone. There he won the
1997 Grand Shield and represented Yorkshire at the Royal Albert
Hall.
In 1999 Andrew moved
across town to the Rothwell Temperance Band where he again represented
Yorkshire at the Royal Albert Hall and won the 2000 Swiss Open
Championship and the 2000 Pontins Championships.
Since 2003, when Andrew
relocated to Milton Keynes as an accountant for Scania GB, he has
played Solo Euphonium for the Towcester Studio Band.
Now a member of
Travelsphere he hopes to fulfil one of his burning ambitions of
playing at the British Open.
