In 1982 Sarah started playing the cornet with the Croft Silver Band in Leicestershire.  Several years of practising later she joined  Desford Youth Band on Repiano, with whom she won two National Youth Brass Band Championships and two European Youth Brass Band Championships.  During this time she also played with Desford B Band.

In 1988 at the age of 14, Sarah joined Desford Colliery Caterpillar Band on 3rd Cornet and remained there for 5 years, winning two National Championship titles.

After a 2 year break from playing whilst completing her nurse training Sarah joined the Ancient Order of Forresters Band in Leicester on Repiano Cornet.  A spell at Rolls Royce Coventry preceded her current membership of the Travelsphere Holidays Band.
